Arrival in Amalfi

The Amalfi Coast, with its steep streets and breathtaking views, might seem like a place not suitable for children. Yet, even the little ones can have fun and discover the wonders of this coast!

Amalfi is a city that would deserve all your time, but if we really had to choose how to spend a day here with our family, I would definitely recommend dividing the day into a first part dedicated to the history and culture of this fantastic place and a second part dedicated to fun and relaxation.

Whatever means you choose to reach Amalfi, you will always be welcomed by "Flavio Gioia", the main connecting square from which to officially begin the day dedicated to Amalfi.

Few meters for so much history.

Overlooking the square is the Arsenal, which is the only example of a medieval shipyard still in existence and a symbol of Amalfi's maritime power.

Next to it is the Porta della Marina, right here look up to admire the Rossi ceramic panel on the external wall, it represents the volume and territorial expansion of the commercial trades and movement of the Republic of Amalfi in its most prosperous period.

Walk along Via Mansone to Piazza Duomo which hosts on one side the fountain of Sant'Andrea Apostolo and on the other the Duomo also dedicated to Sant'Andrea, patron saint of the city.

In the heart of the city.

I know I'm asking a lot, but I promise it will be worth it: climbing the 57 steps of the grand staircase of the Duomo to be enchanted by the harmonious combination of different artistic styles that decorate it.

After leaving the kids in awe—and perhaps taking a short break to catch your breath—it's time to set off on a 15-minute walk along the main street that will take you to the Paper Museum, where, together with the children, you will have the chance to experience the art of handmade paper production, just as it was done in the second half of the 18th century.

And now, after so many emotions, you’ll surely be hungry… it's time to eat!

Once back at Piazza Duomo, walking along the Darsena, you’ll reach Taverna Masaniello, where a special menu awaits.

Don't leave right away.

After lunch, take a relaxing stroll along the seafront to reach the beach club, where you can unwind with the kids in the afternoon.

To end the day on a sweet note before heading back, a stop at Panza, a famous pastry shop in Piazza Duomo, is a must to taste the "Delizie", a dessert that truly lives up to its name!

A few specific tips:

Strollers: If you have a small child, keep in mind that the roads along the Amalfi Coast are often steep and uneven. A light and easy-to-handle stroller is the best choice.

Baby carrier: If your child is very young, a baby carrier will allow you to explore the coast with total freedom.

Snacks and water: Don’t forget to bring enough snacks and water for the journey.

In conclusion:

The Amalfi Coast can be a perfect destination for a family vacation.

With a bit of planning and the right activities, your children will have an amazing time and will cherish wonderful memories of this trip.
