Maiori: between sea and tradition
Maiori is one of the gems of the Amalfi Coast, known for its welcoming atmosphere and the perfect blend of authenticity and comfort. With its lively seafront promenade, shaded squares, and traditional restaurants, the town offers a relaxed vibe, ideal for all kinds of travelers. Sea views blend seamlessly with the simplicity of village life, creating a truly unique experience. The town center is vibrant yet never chaotic, making it perfect for evening strolls.
The Longest Beach on the Coast
Maiori's beach is the longest along the entire Amalfi Coast—over a kilometer of golden sand. Wide and well-equipped, it’s ideal for families with children, couples, and sun lovers. Unlike other coastal towns dominated by cliffs, Maiori offers a true beach experience.
Beach clubs, cafés, and restaurants make your seaside day comfortable and enjoyable. The sea is clear and calm, perfect even for swimming enthusiasts.
A Past Full of Charm
Maiori has ancient origins—it was already known in Roman times as Reghinna Major. It became an important commercial and military port of the Amalfi Maritime Republic and still preserves traces of its glorious past. With Saracen towers, castles, and historic churches, history lives on at every corner. Especially fascinating is the Abbey of Santa Maria de Olearia, carved into the rock. Don’t miss the scenic Lemon Path, which connects Maiori to Minori through citrus-scented trails and breathtaking views.
How to Reach Maiori
Maiori is easily accessible by both land and sea.
By car, you can drive along the spectacular Amalfi Coast road (Strada Statale 163); alternatively, there are bus connections from Salerno and Sorrento.
During the summer months, due to heavy traffic, it’s better to arrive by ferry or hydrofoil—many routes connect the town to Naples, Salerno, and other coastal gems. The nearest airport is Naples Capodichino, about an hour and a half away.
Once you arrive, everything is easily explored on foot.
